Strainers can go in various parts of a system: the poly strainers at the end of a suction line, brass Y-strainer on the tank outlet before the pump, the stainless steel strainers on the inlet of a small submersible pumps (in the absence of a filtration sponge) and the rainwater tank strainer in rain harvesting situations.
